Pupil Premium Funding

Pupil Premium Funding

Each year, the Government gives a an additional sum of money to each school based on the number of children it states require a premium. This grant is called the Pupil Premium.

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals (including at any point in the last six years) children who are adopted, looked after and children of service personnel.

The amount a school receives each year is determined by the school census data, and changes every year depending on cohorts. Schools are legally required to their plans for how this money is to be used in school, and it's impact from the previous year.
